Mark Latham is a Finance Consultant here at Stratton Finance based in our Victorian team in Port Melbourne. From 1999, Mark has grown his passion for helping customers finance their assets in an easy and stress-free way.
Where you were born?
I was born at Bramley Mead Hospital in Whalley, Lancashire, England, 1981, a wonderful day.
Time with us at SF?
Just over 2 years, I started in July 2017.
Roles you’ve held previously?
I have worked in most sectors of the finance industry, back in the UK, from admin, handwriting finance documents back in 1999 as a 17-year-old, then onto an internal sales role. I’ve spent time as a credit analyst, worked in a collections team and now I’m a finance broker in Australia.
What you’re driving?
We have a family car however the wife works in Mulgrave so I make use of the public transport, the 109 tram picks me up from pretty much outside of the house and then it’s a 5-minute walk to work from Graham Street.
The hard hitting part
What is your role today and your objective?
As a Finance Consultant, my objective each day remains the same, I have daily clients at different stages of the buying process each trying to reach the next stage. Whether that be to obtain quotes, obtain an approval or settle their loan and collect their new car, each part of the process is as important to me as it is to the client. In a nut shell, I would say my role is to help our clients get to the stage they want to get to, in the easiest way possible!
What’s an example of a great SF customer experience you’ve been involved with?
The role is predominantly office based and we spend LONG days in the office, 95% of what we do is over the phone and on email but in some circumstances, it’s getting out to meet clients face to face to collect documents. Making the transaction easier for them is very important, it really strengthens the relationship when you can show them, you’re always willing to go the extra mile.
How do you feel SF is differentiated in the market and the value we add?
I believe our flexibility is a big part of the service we can offer as there’s not really one product for all and we customise each package to what the customer is wanting to achieve. Along with that, I also believe we are different as the whole company is working tirelessly in different areas to make the process of financing your asset more cost effective and streamlined. From the digital and IT side of the business, to the settlements team, along with brokers and customer service we are all striving for the same goal. We are looking for the way customers WANT to purchase their vehicles and organise their finance rather than just “how we do it”.
Most importantly, why do you love coming to work everyday?
The atmosphere at Stratton Finance is one of the main reasons I enjoy coming in, there is a lot of different personalities that all integrate well, everyone has a great work ethic and a desire to be a success but just as importantly people come into work with a smile on their face and being able to have a bit of fun whilst achieving our goals is vital to enjoying our time at work.
