We may seek and obtain further personal information (including sensitive information) and credit-related information about you during the course of our dealings with you.  This Privacy Consent and our Privacy Policy also apply to the collection, use, holding, and disclosing of that information.  If you do not provide us with this consent or provide us with your personal information and credit-related information, we may not be able to assist with an application for credit with a financier, or provide other services. 

Information given about other people  

If you have provided us with information about another individual (such as your spouse or co-borrower), you must let them know that:  

  • We have collected their personal information in relation to us assisting with an application for credit with a financier, or providing other services. 
  • We may exchange this information with any parties set out in this Consent and our Privacy Policy.  
  • We handle their personal information in the way set out in our Privacy Policy and that they can obtain a copy of our Privacy Policy at www.strattonfinance.com.au/privacy-policy or by emailing  info@stratton.com.au. 
  • Where you provide us with the personal information of another person, you confirm that you are authorised to provide this information to us on that person’s behalf.  

Appointment as your agent to act as an ‘access seeker’ 

You consent to appoint us as your agent to act as an ‘access seeker’ to obtain your credit related information from a credit reporting body (CRB) on your behalf and for the purpose of assisting you with your application for credit.   

We may exchange your personal and credit-related information with the CRB listed below.  The information may be included in reports that the CRB gives other organisations (such as financiers) to help them assess your credit worthiness. 

Some of the information may adversely affect your credit worthiness (for example if you have defaulted on your loan) and accordingly, may affect your ability to obtain credit from financiers.

How we handle your personal and credit-related information 

Stratton may collect, use, hold and disclose your personal information and credit-related information for the purposes set out in this Privacy Consent and our Privacy Policy, including in connection with your inquiry, processing your application for finance, direct marketing of products and services, complying with laws, managing our relationship with you, and allowing us to perform administrative tasks. 

We may collect, use, hold and disclose your personal information and credit-related information for the purposes set out in the Privacy Consent and our Privacy Policy with  Stratton's financiers (Financiers) listed in our Privacy Policy

If you request, we will collect, use, hold and disclose your personal information for the purposes of discussing and applying for insurance products and services provided by insurers who have authorised us to engage in these activities.  

We may collect this information directly from you or indirectly from third parties, as set out in this Privacy Consent and our Privacy Policy.  

Personal information includes any information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable. The kinds of personal information we may collect about you include your name, mobile number, address, email address, date of birth, gender, occupation, driver’s licence and any other information we may need to identify you including publicly available information from public registers and social media. If wanting to apply for finance, we may also collect your Australian residency status, relationship status, employment details, credit history, expenses and proof of earnings.  We may also collect the number and ages of your dependents and cohabitants including the length of time at your current address. 

If you use our website or mobile applications, we may collect information about your location or activity including IP address, telephone number and whether you have accessed third party sites, the date and time of visits, the pages that are viewed, information about the device used and other user location information. We may collect some of this information using cookies (for more information please see our Privacy Policy).  

Credit-related information is information which includes your identity; the type, terms and maximum amount of credit provided to you, including when that credit was provided and when it was repaid; repayment history information; financial hardship information (including information that any repayments are affected by a financial hardship arrangement); default information (including overdue payments); payment information; new arrangement information; details of any serious credit infringements; court proceedings information; and personal insolvency information. Credit eligibility information is credit reporting information supplied to us by a credit reporting body and any information that we derive from it.  

Sensitive Information 

Personal information also includes ‘sensitive information’. Due to the nature of the services provided by us, some of the information we collect may be sensitive information, including details about your race, ethnic background or health information and may include any information you tell us about any vulnerability you may have.  

Exchange information 

We may exchange your personal information and credit-related information with the following types of entities.  Please see our Privacy Policy for more information. 

  • The CRB identified in this Privacy Consent and our Privacy Policy
  • Financiers identified in our Privacy Policy
  • Insurers who provide credit or other products to you, or to whom an application has been made for those products as detailed in this Privacy Consent. These insurers are AWN, Allianz, NM Insurance, NTI Limited and Suncorp; 
  • Anybody who represents you, such as accountants, lawyers and financial consultants; 
  • Any industry body or regulatory body, government authority, tribunal, court or otherwise in connection with any complaint regarding our services – for example if a complaint is lodged about us; 
  • Any government agency, regulator or other person where we are authorised or required to do so by law, such as under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth), government and law enforcement agencies or regulators, or where you have provided us consent; 
  • Any person, where you have provided us with consent; 
  • Any of our associates, related entities, referrers, or persons who assist us to provide our products and services to you; 
  • Our auditors, accountants, lawyers, attorneys and other external advisors; 
  • Entities to who we outsource some of our functions or that provide information and infrastructure systems (for example IT services); 
  • Associated businesses that may want to market products to you; 
  • Other guarantors or borrowers (if more than one) ; 
  • Your referees, such as your employer, to verify information you have provided; 
  • Any person considering acquiring an interest in our business or assets; 
  • Any organisation providing online verification of your identity.  

Overseas Disclosure From time to time, Stratton may provide your personal information, and credit-related information to overseas entities including related entities located overseas as set out in our Privacy Policy. The countries we disclose your personal information to include United States of America. Overseas entities may be required to disclose the personal information received about you to relevant foreign authorities under a foreign law.  

More information on overseas disclosure may be found in the entities’ privacy policies. Whilst we attempt to select and secure reputable offshore service providers, we are not liable for any breach or misuse of information sent offshore. An overseas entity may not be subject to privacy laws or principles similar to those which apply in Australia, and any information disclosed to an overseas entity may not have the same protection as under the Australian Privacy law. You may not be able to seek redress for any breach of your privacy which occurs outside of Australia. To the extent we and our Insurers disclose your personal information to entities located overseas. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that the overseas entity does not breach the Australian Privacy Principles applying to your personal information. 

Storage and Security We may store your personal information and credit-related information in cloud or other types of networked or electronic storage and will take reasonable steps to ensure its security.  

However, it is not always practicable to find out where your information may be accessed or held, as electronic or networked storage can be accessed from various countries via an internet connection.  

Customer identification  

Prospective Financiers may disclose your name, date of birth and address to an organisation providing verification of your identity to request an assessment of whether that information matches information they hold in their files (an “Information Match Request”) (this may also include online electronic identity verification).  

Your personal details will be matched to information held by the issuer of the identification document (the “Official Record Holder”) via the use of third party systems. Alternative means of verifying your identity may be available with prospective Financiers. 

Prospective Financiers may also use information about your Australian Passport, state or territory driver licence, Medicare card, citizenship certificate, birth certificate, and any other identification documents to match those details with the relevant registries using third party systems and record the results of that matching. 

Document Verification Service In carrying out applicable customer identification procedures (including beneficial owner identification requirements, where applicable), prospective Financiers may use the Australian Government's Document Verification Service (“DVS”) to verify your identity. This may involve the use of your identification documents such as your Australian-issued Drivers Licence, Passport or Australian Citizenship Certificate. The information you provide to prospective Financiers will be used to verify your identity and may be the subject of an information match request to the official record holder of the underlying information. That information match request, the information match result and other information match data and access to and use of the DVS may involve the use of third-party systems and services. You can obtain more information about the operation and management of DVS at www.idmatch.gov.au/individuals. 

What happens if your personal information including Credit-related information is not collected? 

If you do not provide all the information requested by us as part of the application process, we may not be able to process your application or submit a credit application to a lender. 

Stratton’s Privacy Policy 

Our Privacy Policy contains more detailed information about: 

  • a list of Financiers from Stratton’s lending panel with links to their privacy policies; and 
  • your rights to request access to and correction of personal information we hold about you at any time, how to contact us or lodge a complaint.

Call recordings 

We will record calls that we receive from or that we make to you.  You can let us know if you don’t want the call to be recorded.   

Acknowledgement and consent 

By signing below you acknowledge that you have read and understood each of the below continuing consents: 

  1. Stratton collecting, using, holding and disclosing my personal information as specified above and as detailed in Stratton’s Privacy Policy
  2. if you are a joint applicant or guarantor, Stratton and prospective Financiers may exchange information about you with your joint applicants or guarantor(s) in relation to an application for credit  
  3. Where I provide personal information about any other person, I have their consent to do so. 
  4. the receipt of notices and other documents electronically to the email address I have provided Stratton. This consent will apply to all communications permitted to take place electronically by law.   
  5. You understand that giving this consent means:
    • Stratton will not send paper copies of notices and other documents to you 
    • You should regularly check your electronic communications for notices and other documents; 
    • You must ensure that your email address, contact number and other contact details remain current (or as otherwise notified to Stratton) 
    • You may withdraw your consent at any time by notifying the Stratton Privacy Officer in writing using channels detailed in the Privacy Policy
    • Withdrawing your consent does not apply to the consent you may have given (or not) to Stratton sending direct marketing (commercial electronic messages). 
  6. Appointing Stratton to act as my access seeker to obtain a copy of my credit report from a CRB on my behalf and for the purpose of assisting with an application for credit.   
  7. Authorising Stratton to disclose personal information (including credit-related information) to prospective Financiers in connection with prospective applications for credit. 
  8. A credit report being obtained from a CRB by prospective Financiers for the purpose of assessing a credit application. 
  9. Personal information and credit-related information that you provide will be used by Financiers for verification purposes and personal information and credit-related information that you provide may be subject to an Information Match Request in relation to relevant Official Record Holder information, and that corresponding results will be provided to prospective Financiers via the use of third party systems 
  10. The use of DVS as described in the section “Document verification service” by prospective Financiers for the purposes of checking your identity document details with the official record holder (via third party systems). 
  11. Stratton sending me direct marketing from time to time about products and services that Stratton thinks may be of interest to me.  Stratton may contact you by various means including by telephone, email and SMS.  I understand that if I don’t want to receive direct marketing from Stratton, I can opt-out at any time by unsubscribing or following the opt-out process set out in Stratton’s Privacy Policy
