What is the Luxury Car Tax fuel-efficient "green" car limit and which cars are eligible?
For the purposes of calculating Luxury Car Tax (LCT), cars with a combined-cycle fuel consumption of 7L/100km or less (as calculated according to the the vehicle standards in force under section 7 of the Motor Vehicle Standards Act 1989) are classifed as fuel-efficient "green" cars.
The higher fuel-efficient "green" car limit of $75,375.00 (for Financial Year 2011-12, including GST but excluding other government fees and charges) applies to these fuel-efficient vehicles, meaning that Luxury Car Tax is only payable on the portion of the purchase price exceeding $75,375.00.
